Module

MOBIS is a pioneer of modularization – a revolution in the automotive industry of the 21st Century.

MOBIS supplies the three major modules – chassis, cockpit and front-end – to car manufacturers in the Just in Sequence (JIS) system. Holding a key role in the initial stages of the development process for a new vehicle, MOBIS performs research and development into automotive parts, taking into account the specifications for modules that will later enter production, including designing and testing. By integrating modularization into the system and thus reducing the total weight and the number of parts needed, MOBIS is contributing to increased competitiveness. This allows easier assembly, effective inventory control and cost reduction.

The chassis module is an assembled frame module on which the vehicle body and powertrain are mounted. It is located on the lower part of the vehicle, consisting of the suspension, steering and brakes. The top chassis module supplier in Korea, MOBIS has developed various chassis modules – including the corner, front chassis, rear chassis and complete chassis modules – and manufactures 5.3 million units per year at 13 factories in Korea and overseas.

  • Cockpit Module

The cockpit module is an assembled unit that consists of an instrument panel, dashboard and electronic components including audio, the air-conditioning/heating system and airbags. The top cockpit module supplier in Korea, MOBIS has developed high-tech cockpit modules that maximise the modularization effect. This helps to reduce the weight and number of parts, and to reduce costs through system integration among relevant parts instead of the conventional assembly process. Using advanced technologies and inspection systems such as CAE, digital mock-ups and rapid prototyping, MOBIS manufactures 5.3 million world-class cockpit modules every year at 13 plants in Korea and all over the world.
